We've all been thinking a bit about summer fun and holidays this week at Haddo...
We've had a rare week with nothing on the events schedule this week so time to take a break and catch up with some planning and a little bit of paperwork while things are quiet. I've been using a few of my saved-up days off (mostly to go whale watching on the Ythan), and Elaine's been having what I suspect is a very wet week's holiday in the outer Hebrides.
I was also lucky enough on Wednesday to get invitied to a tourism conference at the Salmon Bothy in Portsoy- meeting up with lots of other tourism people, local business owners and marketing people to talk about encouraging people to have their holidays in Aberdeenshire, and providing more events and activities for locals as well as visitors.
Here at Haddo the NTS staff have been busy getting ready for their Summer Craft and Fun Fair on Saturday. This looks like it's going be a brilliant event with lots of craft stalls to browse as well as fun and games including a ball pool for small children and even a bouncy castle for adults. The fun starts at 11am.
If you're coming along to the Craft Fair on Saturday don't forget to head down to the Pheasantry while you're here (or on the way to the playground!) where Barnado's are hosting their summer picnic.
There'll be lots of information about the charity, their work and how you could help out so it's well worth a little bit of a detour.
We've now got something on pretty much every weekend until November - genuinely too much to list here, but you can see a full programme of all events by clicking 'Events' at the top of the page.
One new thing that we're quite excited about is our Sunday Playtime which we'll be running every fortnight from 28th August to the 9th October. This is a proper, old-fashioned fun play morning where we'll provide lots of games, logs, sticks, blankets, building blocks and bits and pieces to play with. You just need to bring lots of imagination to make up your own wonderful games. Suitable for all ages and costs just £2 per child.
Exact activities at each session will be a bit weather dependent so keep an eye on our Facebook page and we'll keep you up to date.
There's only two weeks left to get your entries in for the Haddo Photography Competition. We've had some amazing entries already, but the more the better! There are some superb prizes to be won so if you've been out and about recently then send in your shots and you never know what might happen...
We're especially looking for more entries from Under 16s. Entry to that category is completely free so no excuse not to give it a go! Full details here.
