We start this week's blog with an important announcement for anyone planning to visit Haddo at Easter...
After a lot (a *lot*) of discussion, planning, and inspecting our parking facilities (especially given the recent flooding and long-range weather forecasts) we've taken the decision to limit vehicle entry and car parking spaces at Haddo on Easter Sunday- the day of Haddo Egg Hunt.
The Egg Hunt is a wonderful event which keeps getting more and more popular, people are staying longer and to be honest we've reached the point where we really struggle to get everyone safely parked without cars getting stuck, or parking unofficially and blocking roads and emergency access.
So, we've decided that vehicle entry to Haddo on Easter Sunday will be by PRE-BOOKED CAR PARK PASS ONLY. If you don't have a pass you won't be able to bring your car or other vehicle into Haddo and won't be allowed into the car parking areas. This applies to ALL visitors- coming to the Egg Hunt, NTS/Cadbury Egg Hunt or just visiting to walk the dog and grab a coffee.
This is purely to limit car numbers so if you live locally and want to walk or cycle in then you won't need a pass.
The passes will be free and will be available online and from Haddo at the end of February. We'll post the full details of how and where to get hold of your pass nearer the time.
Out in the park we're still checking over all the damage from the floods last week. Thankfully the mansion house, stables and the terrace gardens have all survived without any damage at all. The Kelly Burn bridge is actually in one piece but its foundations have been almost completely washed away and it's likely to remain closed for a while. There will also be a lot of resurfacing work needed on the path leading up to it. We've also had a bit of a leak in the Pheasantry roof so that's had to go on the fix-up list as well.
We'll let you know when everything's open again but in the meantime please pay attention to any path closed signs and don't try to cross via the damaged bridge. Oh, and probably best to bring wellies on your walk for the big puddles!
We're putting together a great events programme for 2016 and it's worth checking the events page of this website over the next few weeks as we're adding more and more things to do every day.
The first event of 2016 is the return of Popcorn Time movies at Haddo, now on Sunday mornings at 11am. The programme starts this Sunday with a Frozen Sing-a-long and continues next week with David Bowie's Labyrinth.
Tickets are available online from the NTS website
It might be miserable and snowy out there but it's not putting the squirrels off! Still at the feeding station most days especially if there are apples to be eaten.
